The larger hailstones were obviously several small stones frozen together, but they stuck together very firmly. One I looked at looked like a crystal: long thin shafts of ice stuck together. At the very end of the storm the angle changed from vertical to 20 degrees and shifted to a light sleet. This is getting slightly heavier as time goes on. |
